The Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council of Chemung County provides

information, education, and treatment referral services

for alcohol and/or drug related problems. 

Alcohol and drug use and its consequences threaten Americans of every socio-economic background, geographic region, educational level, and ethnic or racial identity. No one is immune and every family is vulnerable. 

Our purpose and mission

»     To reduce the incidence and prevalence of alcoholism, other drug addictions and related problems.

»     To achieve this Mission, will maintain programs to provide the following services:   

• To provide leadership and coordination service to enhance broad-based cooperative community efforts to address all alcohol and drug-related problems that affect our population.
• To provide alcohol an drug-specific information, education, and referral services to persons and their families suffering from alcohol and other drug-related problems
• To provide primary prevention and early intervention services which discourage use of alcohol and other drugs among children and other high-risk groups.
• To provide special programs to improve the awareness and understanding of leaders, educators, health professionals and the media about alcoholism and other drug addictions, their medical complications and related social and economic problems,
• To gather and disseminate valid prublic educational information about use of alcohol and other drugs, alcoholism and other drug addictions and related problems.
